This is the first song in a prayer trio made up of Morning, Noon & Evening prayers that would usually be read together in a monastic setting, or perhaps in a home, or even in some tradition's daily church services. In The Book of Common Prayer, it is a Collect (just a churchy word for "prayer) in the Daily Morning Prayer: Rite Two. It was a joy to record this song with my whole family, as it is our favorite!
lyrics
Lord God, Lord God
...you have brought us in safety to this new day:
Preserve us with your mighty power,
that we may not fall into sin,
nor be overcome by adversity;
and in all we do, direct us to
the fulfilling of your purpose
the fulfilling of your purpose
the fulfilling of your purpose;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
